Training Opportunities:
Heritage Clinic, a division of the Center for Aging Resources, offers an APA accredited doctoral internship in professional psychology (the APA Commission on Accreditation can be reached at 202-336-5979). The training goals of Heritage Clinic are to: 1) train interns in high quality, general skills in psychological assessment and diagnosis, intervention, supervision, consultation, research and inquiry, consumer protection, professional development and cultural proficiency; 2) develop interns’ understanding and skill in geropsychology; and 3) help clinicians understand community psychology, with particular focus on methods of reaching underserved and culturally diverse populations.   The clinic also provides practicum training, post doctoral training and post licensure consultation and continuing eductation in geropsychology.

Clinical Training Settings:
Heritage Clinic is a community based geropsychological clinic serving a multicultural population of older adults in urban Los Angeles. Services include in-home psychotherapy for homebound seniors; individual, collateral and group psychotherapy for older adults in the clinic; psychological assessment, cognitive screening for older adults concerned with memory changes, clinical mental health outreach with hard-to-reach elders, mental health services for crime and elder abuse victims and adult daycare. Services are provided in client homes, in the community based clinic, in senior centers, in Skilled Nursing Facilities, in Board & Care facilities and in Assisted Living Facilities.

Faculty Clinical/Research Interests:
Faculty interests include, among other things, community outreach and service in geropsychology, serving the underserved, multiculturalism, reducing elder abuse, and training mental health professionals.
